The working world is finally waking up to something important: taking care of your employees isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also what keeps business thriving. But with everyone talking about employee wellbeing these days, how do you cut through all the noise and find what actually makes a difference?

This World Wellbeing Week, we did something simple. We asked real leaders and professionals to tell us actionable strategies that their company tried that genuinely worked. Honest stories about what’s actually helping people feel better at work. Some solutions are beautifully simple, others are bigger company-wide changes, but they all have one thing in common: they come from people who care enough to try something different.

Here are the top 4 ways Zendesk helps people actually feel better at work:

Recharge Fridays: One Friday off each quarter, company-wide, to protect creativity and innovation, avoid burnout, and make space for rejuvenation that fuels performance.

Employee Communities: Groups like Pride, Women at Zendesk, Mosaic and The Village aren’t just support networks – they’re spaces that build connection, create opportunities for development, amplify voices, and drive culture forward.

Purpose-driven development: With programs like ZAP (Zendesk Accelerator Program) and MAP (Manager Accelerator Program), we help people grow with intention, build leadership mindsets, and unlock new opportunities.

Giving back, together: Whether it’s through global volunteer days or end-of-year donation credits, we empower people to create impact in the communities that matter to them.

Making everyone feel included – when you have a workforce that’s predominantly remote and spread across the globe, you need to come up with initiatives that include everyone, which means getting the balance between remote & virtual initiatives.

Promoting a healthy work-life balance – encouraging flexibility and my favourite perk, unlimited holiday.

Celebrating all the wins – whether this is with a celebration slack channel, shouting team members out or giving employees the opportunity to enjoy a meal or a coffee on us!

Getting to know everyone – this is more personal to me, but I really value getting to know and connecting with everyone at work, whether it’s a new joiner or someone who has been here 6 years.

At Lattice, one of the most impactful things we do is Recharge Days — company-wide days off designed for us to truly switch off, recharge, and spend time however we choose. As a full-time working mum, this has been such a gift. On our last Recharge Day, I took my son to Butlins for a day of fun — something I wouldn’t have normally carved time out for mid-week. That quality time together, without work in the back of my mind, meant the world to both of us.

But beyond that, it’s the culture at Lattice that makes the difference. In my 9 months here, I’ve experienced true flexibility and autonomy — the freedom to work from home or the office based on what works best for me and my family. That balance is rare and invaluable.

We’re a team that’s diverse, supportive, and genuinely collaborative. There’s a strong sense of togetherness, and leadership does a great job of keeping us in the loop with product updates and company news, which really fuels transparency and trust.

Lattice doesn’t just build tools to help other companies improve employee engagement and performance — we live and breathe those values ourselves. And as a working mum, I honestly couldn’t ask for a better place to grow both personally and professionally.
